Great Wall Motor And Total Join Their R&D Strengths to Provide The Motorists With Further Innovations

On May 25th, 2016, Great Wall Motor (GWM) and Total Lubicants China (TLC) have confirmed with the opening of a joint laboratory for their long-term commitment to pursue technical excellence for the motorists. Mr. Shujie Hu, Vice President & Director of Technical Center of GWM, Mr. Jean PARIZOT, R&D Director of Total  Marketing &  Services,  Mr. Pierre DUHOT, General Manager of Global Automotive Businesses of Total Lubricants, Mr. Ting Wee LIANG, President of Total (China)  Investment, and Mr. Patrice DEVEMY, Managing Director of Total Lubricants China were attending.

According to the joint laboratory agreement, Total will leverage on its extensive experience and know-how in lubricants research and development to offer GWM technical support, establish norms and standards for lubricants usage, and complete its key projects such as the upgrade of existing engines and the development of new ones. Total is an international energy company while GWM is a Chinese leading national company that possesses independent R&D strengths. The cooperation between Great Wall Motor and Total shows that the two sides will join their R&D strengths to innovate together for the motorists.

Mr. Shujie HU, Vice President & Director of Technical Center of GWM said: "As an independent national car manufacturer, GWM is a technical oriented company, and we have formed alliances with many well-known companies globally. In recent years, the cooperation with Total has been fruitful, and the joint laboratory project deepened our cooperation. In the future, we will rely on this joint laboratory platform, build up a regular communication system for high technology exchange, and at the same time, integrate Total ANAC (Used Oil ANAlysis Compared) oil analysis service and other strategic business cooperations to promote mutual development and achieve win-win results.

Mr. Jean PARIZOT, R&D Director of Total Marketing & Service said: "As an international energy company, for many years, Total has R&D cooperation with key global Automobile OEM’s. By setting up this joint lab, Total is willing to share the excellent lubricants technology with GWM and provide it with tailor-made solutions. This cooperation is not only enhancing our R&D technologies and improving products performance, but also establishing the smooth way for the long term partnership between Total and GWM. "

In the afternoon, Total leaders, accompanied by Mr. JIN Yutao, Manager of Technology Department of GWM, paid a visit to HAVAL Xushui Branch of GWM. The branch is one of the three major production bases of GWM with a total production capacity of 1 million units. Its main products are high-end HAVAL SUV and it also provides set equipments for Great Wall passenger car, SUV and pickup with the most advanced and cutting-edge technological equipments. Moreover, a full-function test field with a 7km circuit and a maximum speed of 240km/h has been built for technology research and development test as well. At the testing ground, Total leaders participated in the test driving activity of HAVAL H8 and HAVAL H9. By this visit and test driving, Total leaders deepened their understanding of GWM’s R&D strength. In addition, this visit laid a foundation for in-depth cooperation between the two sides in the near future.

Early in 2009, TLC had built up its partnership with GWM and became GWM’s supplier of engine oil, transmission oil for the Chinese and overseas business. And Total also sponsors GWM HAVAL SUV racing team to attend DAKAR. As Total and GWM share common ground on enterprise profession, competitiveness, customer-oriented core values, and have a consensus on joint development of high-quality products and service, their cooperation gradually deepens and improves.
